Hello All,
Lilbigtoes here with a serious issue that has just affected my home and business...and affected it in a very bad way. Scamming! I got hit hard by these a**h*****! They got EVERYTHING! I was completely ripped off and had no way to stop it!
Here's the scoop!!!
I was offered a good job back in July of this year and thought that my "ship had come in". Oh how really wrong I was. The fiasco started simply by the HR man of this supposed company asking me to do a "Virtual Interview" via Google Hangouts. Now if you have never heard of this before, this procedure is actually utilized by some actual, real and legitimate companies. That being said, for every legitimate business/companies online that use this medium for interviews...well, there are 10 that are not. The interview, in my mind went well. But there were some "eye-catching" "red flags" that I should have caught from the beginning. Such as: Mis-spelled words, asking for payments for delivery of office equipment, and i-tunes cards. Like a dummy, I really wanted this to be legit, so I pradded on with this until they asked for my online checking account info and wanted my passwords to my google accounts.
Long story short, they got me. I was completely scammed, right down to talking to "so-called" 'actual' team leaders from this said company on the phone. Come to find out, they were voice actors. They even sent me a W-2. Seriously! Crazy huh?
The Outcome!
Eventually, I had to re-do my bank account's and restart all of my Google account's and Paypal. This was an incredibly emotional experience for me. I lost time, money and my old job that I quit to work here! It was a truly HORRIBLE and embarrassing!
Where do you find out about different scams going around?
